Diversity. Equity. Inclusion.
Empowerment.

Horror has always served as a space for marginalized voices to reclaim power – the work we do at Witch Hunt Theatre is no exception. We are committed to giving those who have been oppressed, silenced, or excluded by mainstream culture the opportunity to reclaim their power and take control of their own narratives. We also offer audiences and artists of all identities the opportunity to examine societal horrors, explore the bounds of identity, and experience fear in a safe and cathartic environment.

In these “unprecedented times,” we also recognize that the horrors we portray on stage cannot be separated from the systemic horrors that those in power continue to impose on anyone with an identity that does not fit into the dominant culture. Witch Hunt will never ignore these horrors but rather shine a light on these atrocities and provide a community space for audiences and artists to process these horrors together.

Additionally, we aim to dismantle the oppressive, antiquated, patriarchal structure of the American Theater. We strive to do so by tailoring our rehearsal processes to fit the needs of the performers, operating under a company model where every artist has a say in the room, paying our artists in a way that is not only fair but sustainable, and creating a community of artists from a diverse array of backgrounds, identities, and experiences. After all, the more diverse our company is, the better and more nuanced our stories become.

Lastly, we recognize that each of us walk through the world with different types of privilege. We are all committed to using our privilege to uplift the voices of others, fight for our marginalized neighbors, and keep each other safe. There are monsters in this world - you either fight them or become them.
